Part Out Set

Plan a set part-out and prepare its parts for inventory.

The Part Out Set tool helps you plan and manage parting out LEGO sets for resale. You pick parts, stage them for upload, then export BrickLink XML or add items directly to your BrickLink inventory.

Beta release

This feature is in beta. We welcome feedback and may change or fix issues before the final production release. Please report any bugs or suggestions.

Workflow overview

The process has three stages, shown in the collapsible process overview section at the top of each project. Click the chevron to show or hide the overview cards and progress bars:

  1. To pick — Lots you are still collecting. Enter how many of each part you have found in the Picking tab.
  2. Ready to upload — Lots you have staged for export. Items appear here in the order you add them (line numbers 1, 2, 3…). You can export or add to inventory at any time; you do not need to finish the whole set first.
  3. Archived — Lots you have already exported. A read-only history of what was uploaded and when.

BrickLink API Required

This tool requires BrickLink API credentials. If not configured, a warning banner will appear at the top with a link to Settings. All actions that interact with BrickLink will be disabled until credentials are added.

Creating a project

From the Part Out Set list, click New Project. Enter a project name and the LEGO set number (e.g. 10297). Optionally set quantity (number of sets) and condition (New or Used). The tool fetches the set’s part list from BrickLink and creates the project with all lots. You are then taken into the project.

Picking tab

  • Info icon — Hover over the info icon in the toolbar to see workflow help and tips.
  • Filter — Search by part number or name to narrow down the visible rows. Shows "Showing X of Y rows" when a filter is active.
  • Picked column — Enter how many of each part you have found. Use the green check to "pick all" for that lot, or the reset icon to clear. When a lot is fully picked (picked = quantity), it automatically moves to Ready.
  • Selection and batch actions — Use checkboxes to select rows. Toolbar buttons work on selected rows:
    • Add to Ready — Moves selected lots with picked items to the Ready to Upload tab. Fully picked lots move automatically, but you can manually move partially picked lots this way.
    • Get Prices — Applies your pricing formulas to selected rows and fills the Value column. Required before exporting XML. Choose the condition in the dialog.
    • Get Locations — Pulls location/remarks from your BrickLink inventory for selected rows so you can see where parts are stored.
  • Editable fields — Click into Quantity, Value, or Location cells to edit inline. Changes save on blur.

Ready to Upload tab

  • Info icon — Hover over the info icon in the toolbar to see workflow help and tips.
  • Filter — Search by part number or name to narrow down the visible rows. Shows "Showing X of Y rows" when a filter is active.
  • Line numbers (#) — Show the order items were added. This order is kept after reload. The column is sortable (ascending = add order, descending = reverse).
  • Toolbar actions — Primary workflow buttons:
    • Export XML — Copies a BrickLink inventory XML for all items in Ready (in line order) and opens the BrickLink upload page. After you upload, confirm in the dialog so those items are archived and cleared from Ready.
    • Add to Inventory — Sends the Ready items directly to your BrickLink store inventory (if the feature is enabled). Successful items are then archived and cleared from Ready.
    • Move to Picking — Select rows with checkboxes, then click this button to return them to the Picking tab if you need to change them.
  • Data enrichment — Use Get Prices and Get Locations on selected rows (same as Picking tab) to fetch pricing data or location information before exporting.

Archive tab

Lists all lots that have been exported, sorted by export date. Read-only; use it to see what was uploaded and when.

Working in chunks

For large sets, you can move items to Ready as you find them and export or add to inventory in batches. You do not need to pick the entire set before using Ready or exporting. The overview cards and progress bars always reflect how many lots and pieces are in each stage.
